SWK 254 Understanding Diversity

SWK 254 Understanding Diversity Hi Professor Humphreys, just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed the class on Thursday. I felt the Holy Spirit in the room with us as you began to pray for each of us. As the class began the enthusiasm was amazing. The hours went by so quickly I couldn't believe we were done. Keep up the good work I enjoy your style of teaching. I have gotten a better understanding on the oppression of God's people and from the reading of the assigned books I understand my oppression as a child in this world. But the good thing is we have the opportunity to make a difference for change all for the better. Thank you. Sylvia Hosten.

Im just writting to say that as each class passes by I become a different person. Im learning the ideas social workers should have and I'm finding myself like a jar of clay being molded through by God. I really enjoy each Thursday night, although I may be tired and not wanting to be in a classroom, but because there is a difference I actually feel renewed each Thursday night and arrive to class with joy. I feel a total difference in this class then when Im in other classes. It's a true blessing to have the Lord just speak to me through education. I believe that the class flows with annointing. GodBless everyone, fellow classmate Laura

Hi its Laura, Professor God Bless you and my fellow classmates.
This week I've realized through the people close to me that racial slurs or comments are made without realizing it,unconcsiously. We sometimes don't realize, for example one of my friends went to a job interview and told me "I'll fit in better with companies requirements because I'm lighter skin toned than our friend" which was another person who was going to accompany us to get interviewed as well. I told my friend you can't say that because your color or skin tone has no affect on the work that our other friend can perform. Whoevers hiring will chose that of benefit to the company, not he who fits in because if you just fit in and cannot perform what is expected, you wont be working for long. This just bothered me because people are still with a racial mentality. Why can't society educate itself and stop judging or making these types of presumptions. This class in allowing me to pay more attention to the small things I didn't realize before. Aspects that have to change in my life, and thanks to this class are changing. Thankyou

Grace & Peace...Prof. Humphries, Just wanted to tell you thank you for being such a wonderful motivator and educator. i had been away from school for two semesters, but i felt right at Home. Tonight's class was very lively, and I feel that we as a group have a lot to contribute to the topic of cultural diversity. I pray that we all come to class each Monday night, to see how the Holy spirit will minister to us, through your teachings, and the group as a whole. Being self aware is one of the most valuable assets we can possess, both as social workers, or people in general. Learning about other people's culture, allows for the process of self awareness to be refined...like you said tonight if we don't change....we will die

God Bless...Faith Whinfield
